Daniel Johnston sings about Mountain Dew.

a clip from the 2006 documentary The Devil and Daniel Johnston.

also drinks in this drink machine cost 50 cents. is that a time thing or a mental hospital thing? if so, what the fuck mental hospitals? why you be giving out cheap soda? it's bad for you. it might drive you insane.

weighted pines- weighted pines

get it (don't forget it)

this is a project from braden j mckenna, who is just about as prolific as anyone putting out music right now. he has more bands then i have fingers (though to be fair i lost some in the war). these are 14 short short lo-fi songs that are fun to listen to. favorites are "small town" and "twentyfive."

doomed youth pt. 1

1/3 of US youth too fat/sickly too serve.

"Most of the rest are too dumb or have used too many drugs to qualify, the study shows."

i don't think anyone i know can be in the military.

musicks

let's talk about music.

the parasails- skylife

it's dreamy and golden, perfect for a late night whacked-out sleepy haze or for spinning slow circles in your room. get at it. i really like 'skylife 3' and 'skylife 9' but they're all great.

also, i am doing a radio show now at the university of edinburgh. it's on fresh air, the university's student radio station, and streams live on their website, freshair.org.uk. myself (the rotating-named american-themed dj) and my colleague (dj silky smooth) play mostly new american music for those scottish ears (although truthfully most of the kids that go here are english anyway), sort of lo-fi or no-fi or fuck-fi who cares. we have a blog also, sort of like a demented sister only interested in statistics and track listings. its called subterranean apache jive, check it out.

anyone know any good movies?

guy fawkes night

right now I live in scotland, where guy fawkes night was celebrated yesterday. we paid tribute to the man who almost blew up the english parliament by almost blowing up ourselves. after a dinner of sausage (which my english flatmate assures me is some sort of tradition), we climbed to the top of a great hill where fireworks were literally being shot off everywhere, often fairly close to our faces. my flatmate fell off a great pile of rocks onto another pile of rocks down below, but seems to have survived all right. i yelled a lot about america and made enemies. we set a guy fawkes paper effigy on fire. it's nice that they let you buy fireworks at a bargain store in the middle of a crowded city. sure beats america. although fireworks have great names. ours were called 'golden eagle.'

which is named after this bird.

as we traveled the great american midwest this summer, we noticed that you can buy fireworks, well, everywhere. sometimes out of boxcars, probably next to the stand that is selling elk jerky.

i have been all sorts of places this semester as i continue to go to school. maybe i will put up pictures that were taken by other people to represent to you my journeys. i wish i had a camera. right now apparently it's in the mail or lost.
